Donna Belle was the daughter of LeRoy Andrus and Vida (Dorris) Andrus and a proud Shasta Indian woman. She loved her heritage as a descendant of the Dorris family and a descendant of Indian Kitty.
She lived a life of service to Shasta people, her family, and community.
She lived life by her own rules and at times lived a colorful life. Her work and life experience were vast and she was seldom without employment. She was a bartender, restaurateur, upholsterer, tribal cultural monitor, and often worked for strawberry and potato farmers to make ends meet. Before retirement, she could be found at the Herd Peak Lookout, and usually with fresh baked cookies. She spent many summers at the Tulelake-Butte Valley Fair making Indian Tacos and fry bread for the Butte Valley Indian Council to raise funds for scholarships to local Native students. She was a loving mother, best friend, fishing companion, extraordinary Firebelle, formidable debater, chicken herder, feeder of stray cats, and the best cookie baker.
She is survived by her seven children Veda Jacoby (Kit), Howard Wynant, Roberta Mazurek (Neil), Sami Jo Difuntorum, Terry Hindle, Rick Boomgarden (Charlene), and Sheila Mortenson (Eric), 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
